Robert Pattinson's The Batman sequel delayed a year, now going head-to-head with TMNT sequel

Robert Pattinson won't be returning as Bruce Wayne's cowled alter-ego until a year later than originally planned

The Dark Knight is going to take a little bit longer to return than expected.

Warner Bros. has announced that the follow-up to 2022’s The Batman has been pushed out a year, with its original October 3, 2025 release now targeted at October 2, 2026, instead. The delay is part of a wider juggling of the WB’s release schedule in the wake of 2023’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, and follows production of the movie being delayed five months as a result of the strikes.

Interestingly, this new date puts Batman at odds with some former comrades; in late February, it was announced that Paramount and Nickelodeon were officially working on a sequel to 2023’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which was scheduled for an October 9, 2026 release. Will the Turtles blink when faced with a Bat-release the week prior, or should we be gearing up for a clash of the urban crimefighters in a couple of years? (They’re so much happier when they work together, though…!)

There's also a Marvel movie around the corner in November 2026, even if no-one knows what the movie actually is just yet. Looks like the calendar is already getting crowded for a couple of falls in the future...

The Batman: Part II will be released October 2, 2026. It’s unknown as yet whether this will affect the release date of the upcoming Penguin spin-off series set between the two movies that had previously been announced for a 2024 debut on streaming service Max.
