The big news from DC's Superman costume reveal isn't the costume (it's the trunks)
You'll believe a man can wear red underwear on the outside, especially Superman.
1978's Superman: The Movie was sold on the tagline "You'll believe a man can fly", and 2025's Superman is built on a similiar premise.
You'll believe a man can wear red underwear on the outside.
After publicly abandoning Superman's classic red-trunks look for the previous cinematic Superman in 2013's Man of Steel, the first look at David Corenswet is decidedly less 'Man of Steel' and more 'Man of the People.' With a climatic event going on outside, we see him putting on his boots one foot at a time just like any one of us, but hidden in the shadows is something else.
Superman's classic red trunks - and yellow belt even.
While hidden in shadow, if you up the contrast on the image you can clearly make out the familiar red trunks of Superman that he has wore since the '30s - and the very same trunks that DC movies (and DC Comcis) abandoned a decade ago. DC gave Superman his red trunks back in the comic books back in 2018, but for DC movies it's taken a bit more.
But we're glad they're back.
