Will Netflix adapt the sequels to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder? Here's what author Holly Jackson thinks

Speaking to a crowd at MCM London Comic Con in May, Jackson was asked about a possible adaptation of Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good as Dead

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder debuted at number one on Netflix when it came out this month, and we can't help but think that some of those millions of views came from fans of the book series upon which t was based. Recently, author Holly Jackson was at MCM Comic Con in London to talk about the two other books in the AGGGTM series; specifically, to answer the question of Netflix adapting them.

"I would love to make the whole series [...] if we can," says Jackson, "which means I have to rely on you guys to binge watch the show when it comes out. I want you to watch it on the first day, and the second day - don't sleep that week."

Well, "don't sleep" is a tad extreme, but you do have to admit that at least a hefty number of fans did exactly what Jackson told them to. According to Netflix's own data, the show hit roughly 7.4 million views (!) during its first week, with a total of 34 million hours (double !) watched. I'm no investigator like the show's main character, but I'd say the clues point to a good chance of renewal.

But just what's the deal with the sequels to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder about? The first, Good Girl, Bad Blood, was released in 2020 and picks up after the first story, with main character Pip Fitz-Amobi creating a true-crime podcast. Then, 2021 saw the release of As Good As Dead, in which a stalker challenges Pip's detective skills like never before.

Oh, and we'd be remiss if we didn't talk a little bit about Holly Jackson's Kill Joy, a novella that acts as a prequel to the original Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Maybe we'll see the day that Netflix uses this shorter work as the inspiration for a prequel season of the show, or maybe its own show altogether.

I mean, House of the Dragon's squeezing four seasons out of a single book - why can't Netflix squeeze one out of a novella?
