Grey’s Anatomy is just as much about the relationship drama as it is about the medical drama and the plane crash/tunnel collapse drama that have made the show famous. As the cast of characters flow in and out of the series (and sometimes die), others have been in it for the long run. And some relationships have been there for the long run too. Ben and Bailey have been (more or less) together since season 6 of the series (that aired in 2010, if you’re curious). Now that it’s season 21 (and 2024), the relationship is still central to the series, and it holds a sort of weight to the actors behind the beloved characters too.
At D23 Expo 2024’s Grey’s Anatomy 20th season celebration, actors Jason Winston George and Chandra Wilson spoke to that special relationship and what stood out about it, especially over years of a myriad of workplace relationships on the series. “It’s about the ebbs and the flow sand the decision to stay together,” Chandra Wilson said about the year’s long relationship between the two characters. Jason Winston George added, “It’s the decision that you make every day… My favorite parts are the ones with Ben and Bailey super mad at each other. I mean pissed beyond belief, but no one’s going anywhere. We’re going to keep hammering this out before we get it right, because I know what I love about you and I know wat you love about me, and that’s worth fighting for.”
We’ll see more of this relationship, as Jason George returns as a series regular on Grey’s Anatomy in this fall.
Grey's Anatomy Season 21 premieres September 26 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
