We’ve all had moments where we feel like we’re one deep breath away from ripping our clothes apart, but it must happen more often to superheroes. After all, those costumes don’t leave much to the imagination. However, Joe Locke managed to make all our worst nightmares a reality as he tore a hole in the butt of his costume while filming the penultimate episode of Marvel Studios’ Agatha All Along in front of the entire cast and crew.
Obviously, we’re going to be giving a couple of pretty big spoilers for Agatha All Along on Disney+ here, so be warned if you still haven’t seen the final few episodes.
During an interview after the finale of Agatha All Along aired, the Heartstopper star revealed that he had a very particular wardrobe malfunction on set while filming in his Wiccan costume. When discussing the costume, Joe Locke explained that they made three versions of the outfit, which he wears during the final confrontation with Rio after the end of The Road. One for him, one for his stunt double, and one for Lock to wear while he was floating down to save the day. “I was in my stunt one with all my wire stuff, my harness, and stuff underneath,” he said. “And I bent over, and I ripped the bum of the costume, and because my bum was too big, and I was so — Everyone was like, ‘Oh no.’”
“I was so stressed about it, and I was just like, ‘Oh, such a shame, everyone. I’ve just got too big of a bum.’ It wasn’t really my bum; it was because the harness and stuff. But I’m gonna say it’s because my arse is too big.”
It could have happened to anyone, of course – there must be countless cosplayers who have had to do similar repairs in their hotel room on the way to the convention floor. However, we usually don’t delay a major production because we went a little heavy on squat day.
