Though the High Republic publishing initiative is coming to a close soon (Charles Soule's Trials of the Jedi is out in just a few weeks!), it's clear that the legacy of the Star Wars publishing-specific era will continue to live on in other corners of a galaxy, far, far away.
StarWars.com confirmed that the hospital that Luthen Rael is kept in before Kleya takes him off of life support is called the Lina Soh Medical Center. Ahoy! That's a direct reference to the same Lina Soh who served as the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, beginning in 234 BBY. Soh oversaw a number of "Great Works" that ushered in a new era of cosmopolitanism throughout the expanding Republic - including an event called the Republic Fair that unfortunately, got crashed by a group of terrorist space pirates known as the Nihil (booooo).
If you've read books and comics from Phase I and Phase III of the High Republic, you'd know just how instrumental Lina Soh was in the world of interplanetary politics. Remember, the Republic was still finding its legs during this period, since hyperspace lanes in space were relatively new at the time, and Soh acted as a poised and decisive leader.
Am I a fan of the fact that the Empire took over a hospital named after her? No, but I'm no fan of the Empire in general. Let's just hope that, as our journey with the High Republic winds down, we'll be seeing more references to Chancellor Soh in future live-action Star Wars projects. She's left too much of a mark on the galaxy to go unnoticed.
