The ending of My Hero Academia has been something that we’ve been waiting to see for a long time. Now that the final season is coming in October, Crunchyroll is getting fans hyped up early with a new trailer that reveals just how much of a full-circle moment this season of My Hero Academia is going to be. Everything in this trailer, from the epic fight between Deku and Shigaraki to the opening theme by PORNOGRAFFITI playing in the background, feels designed to take us back to where the series started.

We don’t want to spoil anything for fans who haven’t caught up on the My Hero Academia manga, but the final episodes of the anime will focus heavily on the brutal fight between Tomura Shigaraki and Izuku Midoriya. As the successors to All for One and One for All, respectively, they were destined to fight for the future of the superhero society that My Hero Academia gives us.

The new trailer for the final season of My Hero Academia shows the conflict not just between these two but within Deku himself. He is torn between knowing that killing Shigaraki could end this battle sooner and save lives, but he also refuses to give up on the young man. Even after everything he’s done, Deku still believes Shigaraki can be redeemed.

This is why we love Deku, after all. Even before he got powers, he instinctively wanted to save people. We see it when he moves to rescue Bakugo in the first episode, despite the teenager being, at that point, an absolutely unbearable bully, and we see it in Deku’s first encounter with Shigaraki, where he first manages to use his powers without making his arm shatter in the process. He knows, instinctively, that he doesn’t want to hurt villains. Stop them, yes, but not hurt or kill them.

Add in the fact that the final opening theme of My Hero Academia will be by PORNOGRAFFITI, who also did the first opening to the anime, and it is clear that studio Bones wants this new season to feel like a wonderful, full-circle moment, and we can’t wait to see if they can pull it off.
