Does Naruto Uzumaki have beef with Luffy D. Monkey? Only a playful one.

Sometimes different sects of anime fandom will have a fun rivalry with one another, and it turns out it’s the same for voice actors. This led to an interesting moment during the Naruto spotlight panel at Megacon 2025.

During the panel, Naruto voice actress Maile Flanagan realized that her castmates Stephanie Sheh and Tara Platt both had roles on the anime Bleach. “How come I’m not on Bleach? Why is everybody on Bleach but me,” Flanagan joked.  

“Alright, I don’t care about that show anyway. That or that One Piece, piece of crap,” Flanagan said. This led to some audible gasps from the crowd. “Tell that to Chris Sabat,” Flanagan added after the audience noise had died down.

I was sitting in the audience, and I could tell some of the crowd wasn’t sure how to take it. However, I wouldn’t take Flanagan’s jest too seriously. If you’ve ever seen the actress in an interview or on a panel, you would know that it’s part of her personality and she was just having fun.

So no, there is no feud between One Piece and Naruto. However, if Christopher Sabat or any of his One Piece castmates ever respond at their own panel, then this could turn into the anime version of an epic rap battle.
