Tara Strong & Tara Platt: the voice acting tara-tory which has led to confusion and at least one mistaken hiring for a big gig

Los Angeles casting directors have a hard time keeping their Taras straight

Tara Strong is a voice actress who lives and works in the Los Angeles area.

Tara Platt is a voice actress who lives and works in the Los Angeles area.

This has led to some confusion. While two actresses having the same first name isn’t unheard of, the Tara situation has caused some casting directors to goof. In one case, it even led to one Tara being hired, while the other Tara showed up for the recording session.

During a Naruto spotlight panel at Megacon 2025, Tara Platt said that even IMDB has messed up her credits. “I get some from Tara Strong,” Platt said. And then there was the time Tara Strong accidentally took her job.

“I found out that I booked a job and they mistakenly called her agent, and she came in and did the job, even though I booked it,” Platt said. To be clear, Platt doesn’t blame Strong and says the mix up occurred because the people behind the scenes goofed. “They were like, ‘Oh, Tara’s here.’ And then they were like, ‘Wait, what about the Tara that booked it.’ It was a whole thing, and the engineer told me later and I was like, ‘Whaaaat.’”

On a personal note, Tara, I feel your pain. I have a stepbrother with the same first name as me, and when we were teenagers, a girl called to make a date with me but made it with my stepbrother instead. Sharing a first name can be tough, whether you’re a lovestruck boy named Josh, or a voice actress named Tara.
