Avatar: The Last Airbender to return to Nickelodeon in new animated sequel, Seven Havens - about an Avatar who might destroy humanity

The latest Avatar might be destined to end humanity in Nickelodeon's newly announced sequel to The Last Airbender, Seven Havens. What would Aang say?

The story of Avatar: The Last Airbender is set to expand in ways few expected with the news that Nickelodeon has ordered an all-new animated sequel from the show’s original creators.

Avatar: Seven Havens will be a 26-episode, 2D-animated series structured in two ‘Books’ — each lasting 13 half-hour episodes — set in a period after the 2012-2014 Legend of Korra series. In Seven Havens, a new Earthbender will discover that she is the world’s new Avatar… but that the mantle is no longer a good thing. The Avatar is now seen as the potential harbinger of humanity’s end — leaving her hunted by both human and spirits alike. Can the new Avatar and her long-lost twin find out the truth about her new role, and save the Seven Havens of humanity before they collapse entirely?

In a statement about the show, Ramsey Naito, President, Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, said, “For two decades, the richly crafted world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has introduced audiences to a world of compelling characters and groundbreaking storylines, captivating fans globally. We can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.”

DiMartino and Konietzko added in their own statement, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”

The series is currently in production from Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation; details surrounding the show’s cast and premiere will be announced in upcoming months, according to Nickelodeon.
