Mike Flanagan & Prime Video may have found their Carrie in former Chucky star Summer H. Howell
Yep, that creepy kid from Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky might just be the blood-covered, telekinetic teen that put Stephen King on the map

Despite having never appeared in a proper sequel, Carrie White is one of the most iconic women in the history of horror. Her story, originally the first Stephen King novel, has been made and remade at least three times; many more if you count the musical that bears her name. Now, a new adaptation of her tragedy is in the works at Prime Video, with horror legend Mike Flanagan serving as showrunner. And since Carrie is such an icon of the genre herself, it only makes sense that Flanagan would cast someone with a history in horror iconography.
According to recent reports, former Chucky franchise star Summer H. Howell is in talks for the titular role.
The story comes from a Variety exclusive, who clarify that, while a deal has not been made official between Howell and Amazon, their negotiations are close to being at an end. It is also Variety that reminds readers of Howell's role in both 2013's Curse of Chucky and 2017's Cult of Chucky, both direct-to-video sequels in the Child's Play saga. In both films, Howell plays Alice, a little girl who bonds with Chucky and falls prey to his sinister machinations.
You know, as kids tend to do in those movies.
However, Howell's credits in the horror genre don't stop with everyone's favorite "friend to the end." As Variety also points out, Howell has also cut her teeth (heh) on films like 2020's wilderness frightfest Hunter Hunter, 2021's paranormal-investigation-gone-wrong Harland Manor, and 2024's demonic coming-of-age Spirit in the Blood and scifi slasher Time Cut.
I should point out that, despite Howell's long list of horror film appearances, a unique challenge awaits her in taking over the role that got Sissy Spacek her first Oscar nom. That is: unlike any Carrie before her, Howell would be bringing the character to the miniseries format, a place where no Carrie White has gone before. That said, she does have Mike Flanagan backing her up, who may be the most well-regarded horror TV-maker in the modern era.
Who knows? Maybe this Carrie will get a sequel after all.
