Daredevil: Born Again season 1 is "shackled" by previous work, but season 2 won't be says showrunner

Have no fear, season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again will be bigger and bolder than ever before, says Dario Scardapane

Even though the first two episodes of Daredevil: Born Again have only just been released onto Disney+, Marvel Studios already has a second season in the pipeline. Recently, Matthew Lillard was announced as being cast in season two of the show, which leaves us plenty of space and time to speculate on what his role will be.

Recently, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane spoke with Empire magazine about the second season of the show. "Season two's a blast, because we’re not shackled by any previously shot footage… We’re swinging for the fences. It’s on par with huge Greek epics, lots of big themes. Unless you dig really deep into the books, the place that Kingpin and Daredevil wind up at the end of Season 2 is unfathomable, given where they’ve been," Scardapane said.

The fact that the second season of Daredevil: Born Again is committed to "swinging for the fences" and outdoing its already solid foundation is promising for fans. After all, the Netflix Daredevil show featured nail-biting one-take action scenes and jaw-dropping fight choreography. We've never looked at hallways the same way since.

It does beg to wonder if Scardapane feels that season one of the show is "shackled" by wanting to feel like a continuation of the show's third season. Thus far, the cinematography of Born Again has felt distinct from its Netflix predecessor, beyond its use of one-takes for action sequences. Only time will tell, when the rest of the season gradually comes out.
