The noir genre is alive and well with shows like AMC's Dark Winds starring Zahn McClarnon. Executive produced by George R. R. Martin and Robert Redford, Dark Winds tells the story of Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Navajo Nation Police Department and his investigations into crimes on the Navajo Reservation. McClarnon is joined by Kiowa Gordon, Jessica Matten, and Deanna Allison on the show.

AMC has announced that season 3 of Dark Winds will begin airing on March 9, 2025 at 9 PM ET/PT on AMC and AMC+. New episodes will air on Sundays. This third season will be expanded to eight episodes and takes place six months after the events of season 2. The network has released a teaser trailer for the season, which you can watch below.

This season will feature new cast members like Bruce Greenwood and Raoul Max Trujillo. AMC has revealed that this season will see Leaphorn and Chee working to uncover the truth about the disappearance of two boys, while Manuelito adjusts to her new work environment with the Border Patrol. However, as can be gleaned from the teaser trailer, there clearly are some monsters that Leaphorn is trying to outrun.

Currently, the first two seasons of the show are available to be streamed on Netflix, alongside other AMC shows like The Terror. The story is based off of novels by writer Tony Hillerman.

Dark Winds season 3 will be released on March 9, 2025 on AMC.
