Netflix are making the Devil May Cry anime a nu-metal celebration with a soundtrack that features Limp Bizkit and Evanescence

Limp Bizkit's Rollin' features in the opening credits to the Devil May Cry anime's opening sequence, while Evanescence are releasing a brand new single for the series.

The upcoming Devil May Cry anime is fast approaching. Ahead of its April 2025 release date, Netflix has enlisted alt-metal band Evanescence to help set the mood for Capcom’s classic broody action game. Evanescence is providing a new song titled Afterlife, which goes on sale on Friday and will join fellow nu-metal hitmaker Limp Bizkit, whose single Rollin’ features in the show’s opening credits, on a soundtrack that seems designed to personally attack every Millennial with an edgy teen background.

We don’t yet know the context for Evanescence’s new single, titled Afterlife, and how it will feature in the Devil May Cry anime, but it feels very familiar to anyone who heard the band’s breakout single Bring Me to Life. Amy Lee’s vocals are still as powerful and dramatic as ever and the group’s sound is still as intense as you’d expect. The band promised a lyric video for the song on Thursday, March 27, which will be our first chance to hear the whole song before it goes on sale the following Friday.

Afterlife joins Limp Bizkit’s hit Rollin’ on the soundtrack, which makes us wonder exactly how far Netflix is willing to go to capture the 2000s feeling of the early games in the Devil May Cry series. The first game was released in 2001, which is the same year that In the End by Linkin Park was released, so don’t be surprised if it or Korn or other nu-metal acts make an appearance to really drive the 00s nostalgia home.
