Well-dressed, witty, and generous: The Firefly and Serenity cast reminisce about working with Ron Glass
Ron Glass always kept the Firefly and Serenity cast on their toes

The world may have lost Ron Glass in 2016, but the actor’s legacy will live on. For the cast of Firefly and Serenity, Ron was more than his character Shepherd Book. He was a fun co-worker, a comedic colleague, and a generous friend.
“He was such a classy guy, and incredibly well-dressed, and always very appropriate, but sometimes he would come up with a real zinger,” Nathan Fillion recalls during a Firefly and Serenity spotlight panel at Emerald City Comic Con. “What did he say to Jewel that one time when she had a yellow onesie on? He said, ‘Jewel, please.’ He was always very particular about clothes.”
“Or when he spilled wine on these white pants she was wearing at a convention,” Sean Maher recalls. “And then she was like, ‘Ron.’ And he was like, ‘Girl, those pants were ugly anyway.’”

“He was a wonderful human,” Fillion continues. “I once complimented him on a sweater. I said, ‘I really like it.’ And he said, ‘Oh, thanks.’ We did a panel or something, and he was wearing it over a t-shirt. He had a ripping body. At the end of the panel, he came to me wearing his t-shirt, and he said, ‘Nathan, here.’ It was all folded up nice, and he gave me the shirt off his back. I still have it, and I’m scared to wear it. I don’t want anything to happen to it.”
“I just adored him,” Gina Torres says. “I had loved him since Barney Miller, which is the first time I’d ever seen him. Just as Nathan said, just this well-healed beautifully spoken black man with great hair and this voice.”
“And his laugh,” Fillion muses. “His laugh was everything,” Torres says.
