It’s almost time for the long-running, industry changing medical drama Grey’s Anatomy to come back to the small screen. After a long summer of waiting in suspense for that huge twist of an ending to season 20, we’re finally going to see what happens next in September. At D23 Expo’s Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 celebration, Grey’s Anatomy’s new showrunner Meg Marinis was asked to tease what fans can expect from the upcoming season, which is currently being filmed now.
"My favorite thing to do is to tie up our characters in the messiest knot possible in a finale, which I feel like we did pretty successfully," says Marinis. "We have doctors who do not have jobs. And we take up pretty close to where we ended after the finale, and we're going to see how and if those doctors get their jobs back.”
So if anyone was worried about some big jump into the future, we should be able to see that knot unraveled on the screen as opposed to in flashback. As for what else to expect from the season, Marinis promised more fun relationships right off the bat as well as some “very Grey’s Anatomy, shocking moments” to balance it all. Overall, Marinis said, “I think you’re going to be happy.”
Grey's Anatomy Season 21 premieres September 26 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
