Some people collect comic books, Funko Pops, or stamps, but Hannibal’s Hugh Dancy has never been one to conform to norms.

“I collect hands,” Dancy confesses during the Hannibal reunion panel on the Emerald City Comic Con 2025 Main Stage powered by Xfinity. “That’s not an invitation to give me hands. Please do not give me hands, seriously. But I do collect hands.”

Wait, what?

This revelation also shocked Dancy’s Hannibal co-star Mads Mikkelsen. “Can you elaborate on that,” Mikkelsen asks. “Maybe later. It’s kind of a contained thing, in the sense that I don’t have a thousand hands,” Dancy answers.

Dancy then stammered for a bit, trying to make it clear that things weren’t as bad as he was making it sound. “You’ve got to get yourself out of this story now. What do you mean by hands?” Mikkelsen asks again.

“I was on a film set. I had been working on Elizabeth I, and they had built this incredible set. A huge recreation of Greenwich Palace,” Dancy explains. “Oh, now it makes sense,” Mikkelsen jokes.

“I’ve never done this before it was so amazing,” Dancy continues. “As I was leaving, I finished filming, I thought I’m taking something from this set, and I walked around, and I found an old pair of wooden, I guess they were glove stands. Something about it, I thought I’ll have them. I took them home. And I don’t know where the second hand came from, but that’s when you’re suddenly like, oh, I’m a collector now. And then suddenly I have a lot of hands.”

In fairness, Mads Mikkelsen is acting pretty shocked for someone who played a cannibalistic serial killer for 3 seasons. Still, now that the secret is out in the open, I would like to see this hand collection for myself. Dancy, can you post this on your Instagram?
