Invincible season 4 will feature a new Damien Darkblood story not found in the comics
Invincible is in for one Hell of an adversary (heh) in the next season. In a recent interview, Invincible creator Robert Kirkman revealed an idea that will make it into the show, but never made it into the comic

Major spoilers for Invincible season 3 follow.
We know, Invincible fan, you're all excited about Thragg. The primary antagonist of the original comic is indeed coming to Invincible season 4, and as you may remember Popverse reporting, he has even been cast. but there's another big threat on the way for Prime Video's adaptation of Robert Kirkman's hit comic, and he's got everything to do with a character we haven't seen since season 1.
The character we're talking about is Damien Darkblood, that demon detective that figured out Omniman murdered the Guardians of the Globe, then got banished to Hell for talking about it to the wrong people. As we saw in the post credit scene of the Invincible season 3 finale, Damien has been plotting in the depths of the underworld, and it looks as though he's planning on returning to the surface via a mysterious demonic lord.
If you're trying to remember when this happens in the comic, don't. as Robert Kirkman was only happy to tell Variety, the Damien Darkblood storyline that is coming to Invincible season 4 did not originate in his Image Comics run.
"In the comics," Kirkman explained, "[Darkblood] was never sent to hell. He was a great character that we loved from the first season. Clancy Brown’s portrayal of him was spot-on and so terrific. We always wanted to figure out a way to get Damien Darkblood back into the show, and then — gosh, do I want to spoil this?"
The answer to Kirkman's hypothetical, we're happy to report, was apparently "yes."
"There’s a storyline from the comic that I never got around to doing," the Walking Dead creator explained. "Every superhero story has some chapter where they go to hell and they fight the devil. [...] I never got around to doing anything like that in 'Invincible.' I kept getting sidetracked and there was never a good time. So it’s entirely possible that we may be doing something like that in the show, and that scene at the end of that episode is setting that up."
That's pretty enticing already, but the way Kirkman ends his reveal kicks it up a notch.
"Oh my God," he says, "We got to work with Bruce Campbell. It’s the best."
Yes, that demon lord that Darkblood is seen interacting with at the tail end of Invincible's season 3 credits is indeed voiced by none other than Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell. However, it should be noted here that Campbell is not credited as Satan, but simply "Demon." In any case, we're very excited to see more from Clancy Brown's Damien Darkblood in Invincible season 4, whether or not Bruce Campbell tags along for the ride. (Having just hung out with the famous Ash Williams at Emerald City Comic Con 2025, however, we think it's something he'd be up for.)
Invincible season 4 is expected to drop on Amaon's Prime Video in Spring of 2026.
