Ironheart's Anthony Ramos is looking to make his portrayal of The Hood unique when the Avengers villain finally joins the MCU
He is intentionally not reading the Marvel comics to make sure his take on the fan-favorite Avengers villain is as fresh as possible.

One of the smartest things that Marvel has done with the MCU is not to be afraid to stray from the source material when adapting characters. While certain story beats are usually intact, the look and even behavior of the MCU version are often different from the comic book counterparts. For Anthony Ramos, who is portraying Parker Robbins aka The Hood in the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart, it doesn’t matter if he looks or acts different from the comic because he wants to bring his own spin on the character.
During an interview, Ramos explained that he was trying not to base his portrayal of The Hood on what had come before. “No, I didn’t really dive into the comics,” he said. “I just really focused on my character and you just follow the script. But it was also like, yo, how do I make him singular? How do I make him different?”
Aside from geographical differences (the comic book Parker Robbins is from New York City while the MCU version is from Chicago), Ramos wasn’t forthcoming with details of how his take on the character would be different. “So I just wanted to make him super dynamic. Like every character, I just see how I relate to him and I try to put as much of myself into the character. I think that was how I looked at it.”
The MCU has been tweaking and changing how characters look or act since the very beginning, though it is interesting that Ramos has shied away from reading how The Hood acts in the comics. Ironheart is out on June 24, 2025 on Disney+ so we have a while to wait before we can see exactly how far they’ve strayed this time.
