There are a plethora of kaiju stories in pop culture today, but Kaiju No. 8 asks a bold question. What if you were just going about your job as a technician disposing the bodies of kaiju that have invaded your city, only to find that one day, you turned into one of the kaiju yourself? Sounds stressful, right? As if adulthood doesn't have enough going on already.

The basic premise of Kaiju No. 8 resonated with fans when season 1 of the anime adaptation of Naoyo Matsumoto's manga was released in July of last year. A second season of the show was announced not long after the release of season 1, with a vague 2025 date set for the show's sophomore season. Now, Toho Animation has announced that season 2 of Kaiju No. 8 will be released in July of 2025. At the moment there is no specific release date beyond that, but be sure to stay in the loop with us here at Popverse. Once a specific release date for season 2 is announced, we'll fill you in on all the details.

Fans in Japan will be treated to a three-week theatrical run of a film beginning March 28, 2025 that compiles scenes from season 1 of the show. It will also feature a special episode called "Hoshina's Day Off." Unfortunately, if you're not in Japan, you'll just have to stick it out until season 2 of the show releases in July.

Season 2 of Kaiju No. 8 will be available to be streamed on Crunchyroll. The first season of the show is available to watch now on Crunchyroll. Currently, there are 12 volumes of Matsumoto's manga, but a 13th volume will be released in June of 2025. Perhaps you can bide your time waiting for the second season of the show by reading Matsumoto's manga thus far.

Season 2 of Kaiju No. 8 will be released in July, 2025
