That's All Folks: Warner Bros. to demolish longtime home of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the other Looney Tunes

Next up: The board will kill and eat Porky Pig

"Of course you realize," quips Bugs Bunny, "This means war."

Well, it does feel like there’s a bit of a strife going on between the Looney Tunes and the company that gave them life; though if you ask us, it seems pretty damn one-sided. The latest attack? Warner Bros. Discovery plans to demolish the Looney Tunes building on their lot.

The report comes from Deadline, who broke the news of the impending demolition March 27. As Popverse readers know, this is the latest in a string of baffling sour turns for the Looney Tunes brand, as Warner Bros. Discovery has previously scrapped two already-completed Looney Tunes movies and, just this month, stripped the Looney Tunes shorts from its streaming platform, Max.

This latest misfortune specifically regards the historical Building 131 on the Warner Bros. film lot. A mainstay of the space since the 1930s, Building 131 was the home of Looney Tunes animation for decades, seeing some of the Tunes crew’s most famous adventures from concept to screen. According to Deadline, there are no plans to replace the building; rather, the space will be used to house more of HBO’s shows.

As you probably already know, the Looney Tunes gang hasn’t had it all bad in the past couple of months. Thanks to distributor Ketchup Entertainment (and you, discerning filmgoer) the movies that Warner Bros. intended to keep on a shelf are indeed seeing the light of day. Unfortunately, Building 131 won’t be so lucky as to receive a second chance.

Here’s hoping the Looney Tunes gang gets a lucky break soon, or this war of theirs might just continue.
