Star Trek: Lower Decks gets a season 5 release date, will premiere with two episodes

The fifth and final season's release date was revealed at San Diego Comic Con

It's a bit of a bittersweet announcement - Star Trek: Lower Decks will premiere its fifth season on October 24 on Paramount+. Sadly, this fifth season will also be its last.

Announced as part of the Star Trek Universe panel at San Diego Comic Con, the fifth season's release date came with an exciting new teaser trailer, which you can watch here:

Then there came chat with some of the cast on stage. Mike McMahan, Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noel Wells, and Jerry O'Connell joined executive producer Alex Kurtzman for what you might consider the bgenning of the end, and it got appropriately sappy. Jack Quaid recalls fans embracing the show early on - "You guys were chanting 'Lower Decks!' before we were chanting 'Lower Decks'!," he said.

Not long after, another chant of the exact same time started up in Hall H. People love their animated Star Trek folks, that's just the truth of it.

Star Trek: Lower Decks seasons 1-4 is on Paramount+ now. You can say your tearful, spacefaring goodbyes starting October 24, when the fifth season premieres (with two episodes!) on the same streamer.
