Matt Murdock is the man without fear, but that doesn’t mean his body is invincible. Daredevil: Born Again marks the return of Charlie Cox in the role after the 2018 cancellation of his Netflix series. We’ve seen Cox as Matt Murdock again in Marvel Studios projects such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and Echo, but Daredevil: Born Again will put the character in a lead role for the first time since his show ended.
However, that means getting your body in superhero shape again, which isn’t easy for any actor.
Speaking to a crowd at Fan Expo San Franscisco 2024, Cox spoke about the physical toll Daredevil: Born Again took on his body.
“Initially I didn’t prepare for it well enough, and I significantly injured my shoulder to the point where I had to have surgery on it,” Cox revealed.
However, this was the impetus he needed to do some work on his body.
“The great byproduct of that is that since that surgery and having to really kind of slow down and build back up from it, I’ve put so much more emphasis on mobility now than I ever did before. I won’t train in the gym without doing a 20- or 30-minute stretch, and concentrate way more on form over repetitions, and that has been amazing for my body.”
“Because of that, I do feel like my body is in better shape, because I’m just more conscious of the things that when you’re younger you brush aside and don’t attention to, so that’s actually been a wonderful thing that’s come out of it.”
Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
