We don’t know that much about the upcoming Marvel Studios animated series Eyes of Wakanda, but we are finally starting to learn a little more. At D23 Expo’s Marvel Animation panel, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and series director Todd Harris appeared on stage to show some footage and tell fans what to expect from the animated Black Panther spin-off.
As a reminder, the Eyes of the Wakanda series is announced to be not only MCU-canon, but talking place in the 'Sacred Timeline' unlike the What If... ? show.
The Eyes of Wakanda footage that was shown introduced a new character named Noni who is a “disruptor” in Wakanda. As for what other MCU familiars who will appear in Eyes of Wakanda, Ryan Coogler mentioned that War Dogs, the warriors tasked to keep Wakanda a secret, would have an appearance. Since the series is following certain important moments in history, it will also show "certain characters who paid the price for that secrecy" that Wakanda required.
But that’s not all. Harris also teased that while Eyes of Wakanda will touch on some important points in history, it will also intersect with certain important parts of the MCU. Specifically, a character who comes from another secret city… a character “with a glowing fist.” Of course, we didn’t get too many details about which Iron Fist (or even which time in the era of Iron Fists) we will be seeing, but we’ll find out soon enough, as the series is anticipated to release on Disney+ sometime this year.
