As you may have noticed, Netflix is a hotbed for comedic talent. The streamer has released dozens of stand-up specials, from Ali Wong: Baby Cobra, to John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City, to Hasan Minhaj: Homecoming King, you get the full picture. Netflix also has expanded with the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival, which takes over Los Angeles every year. It's at this very festival that comedian Mo Amer made waves before the debut of his comedy series, Mo.
Season 2 of Mo, which will be the final season of the show, will be released on January 30, 2025 on Netflix. It is based loosely on events in Amer's own life as a Palestinian refugee in Texas. Season 1 of the show introduced us to Amer's character, Mo Najjar, as he navigated the asylum process and all of its paperwork. This season, he faces his greatest challenge yet: crossing the border from Mexico back into the United States as a stateless refugee who doesn't have a passport.
Mo was co-created by Ramy Youssef, who starred in Yorgos Lanthimos's Poor Things and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy with his series, Ramy. Season 1 of Mo was also produced by the arthouse juggernaut production company, A24.
Mo season 2 will be released on Netflix on January 30, 2025.
