My Dress-Up Darling anime season 2 is landing in July 2025, hot off the heels of the manga's controversial ending

The new season of My Dress-Up Darling comes more than three years after the first season streamed on Crunchyroll.

We’ve been impatiently waiting for news of when the new season of My Dress-Up Darling would be out for nearly three years. News broke in late 2024 that this year was when our wait would be over, but 12 months is a long window. However, thanks to a new announcement from Aniplex over the weekend, we finally know when to expect My Dress-Up Darling season two – and it is sooner than we thought.

At AnimeJapan 2025, Aniplx confirmed that My Dress-Up Darling season two would air in July 2025, making it part of the Summer Anime season for 2025. That means we only have a few months until one of the most popular romance anime in recent years returns. While the next arc of the manga isn’t exactly our favorite – and the ending of the manga was a bit underwhelming – we can’t help but be excited to see Marin and Gojo return to our screens for more cosplay adventures.

The announcement also came with a recap featurette that showed the journey the two leads went on in season one. My Dress-Up Darling follows Gojo Wakana, an introverted young man whose obsession with hina dolls has left him isolated from his classmates until he agrees to make costumes for Marin Kitagawa. The popular girl is proud of her geeky obsessions and wants nothing more than to cosplay as some of her favorite characters. As they craft and bond over their mutual love of crafting, a beautiful (and usually hilarious) romance blooms.

Season one aired back in January 2022, so fans have been waiting a long time for more of these two. Fortunately, My Dress-Up Darling season two will air in July 2025, with Crunchyroll taking on streaming duties for the new season.
