If you were upset over the death of Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, then you’re not alone. His actor, Joseph Quinn, feels your pain.

Stranger Things season 4 ended with Eddie sacrificing his life to save his friends. The teenage outcast plays Metallica on his electric guitar and fights off a group of demobats. While we were sad to see Eddie go, it was still an epic way to go down.

During a spotlight panel at Megacon 2025, Joseph Quinn spoke about the reaction he had when he learned about Eddie’s ultimate fate. “I was a bit gutted that I was not going to be there down the line. I was very excited by the prospect of doing that Metallica sequence, I thought it was a lovely arc for the character. But again, I was a bit bummed out. It was both. I thought this is going to be fantastic when we do it, but what if I don’t get to come back.”

“What if I don’t get to come back,” Quinn repeated, this time slower, and in a more suspicious voice. The audience got the hint and began to audibly gasp. Was Quinn having fun with the audience, or is Eddie’s story not yet over? We’ll find out when Stranger Things season 5 premieres on Netflix later this year.
