Yes, you've heard right. Speaking at LA Comic Con 2024 this past weekend, Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor revealed that he and unnamed others were "exploring" ideas for a season 2 of the Disney+ series that stars his beloved Star Wars character. What you may not have heard, however, is that while McGregor is excited about his character's future, what really gets him going is the character's past.

Let's explain. Speaking on a panel hosted by Popverse's former deputy editor Tiffany Babb, McGregor recounted several stories from his time in the Star Wars universe. But when Tiffany asked him what facets of the Galaxy Far, Far Away he still hadn't delved into (but would like to), McGregor said this:

"I think there's definitely there's a couple of things. I would quite like to wear that armor from The Clone Wars. I think that would be something I'd enjoy."

Judging by the swell of cheers from the audience at his answer, a few other people would likely enjoy that as well. Still, the now 53-year-old actor knew there would be challenges to bringing his character back to his prequel days.

"That would mean I'd have to be younger," he said, "I don't know, maybe I'd just trim the beard or something? Yeah, it'll be fine. Otherwise, it's the de-aging, you know, it's having the dots on your face for three months. But I'll do it. I don't care. And that way Hayden [Christensen] and I can really get back together again."

And if you thought the Clone Wars armor thing got a big response...

One thing to keep in mind is that all of these ideas are, so far, just that. Neither Lucasfilm nor Disney+ have greenlit more Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is the first thing that needs to happen before work begins in earnest. But if that does happen, there are plenty of ways McGregor could appear younger, ways we'd bet are slightly more effective than a beard trim. After all, Mark Hamill is returning as Luke Skywalker in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy. Who's to say Ewan McGregor couldn't do something similar?
