Peacock's The Office spinoff adds original Office cast member (No, not that one)

Oscar Nunez will return as Oscar Martinez in the upcoming sequel to The Office in the works from Peacock

Well, this is unexpected. We’ve written before about Peacock’s sequel to The Office, which will star Domhnall Gleeson and The White Lotus’s Sabrina Impacciatore, and take place inside a Midwestern newspaper office. So far, so good… but not exactly Office-like, per se. That’s about to change, though, because a cast member of the original series has signed on as a regular in the new show.

Variety is reporting that Oscar Nunez will reprise his role of Oscar Martinez in the as-yet-untitled series, although he will not be the lead character in the series. The outlet reports that, while co-creator (and showrunner for The Office) Greg Daniels felt that the original series had finished the story of almost all of the original cast, Oscar was the one character he’d be interested in returning to.

Nunez will join a cast that, in addition to Gleeson and Impacciatore, includes Melvin Gregg, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and Gbemisola Ikumelo. Of course, now that we have one star of The Office involved, the door is potentially open to guest appearances from others further down the line…

Greg Daniels is co-creating the new series with Nathan For You’s Michael Korman; they’ll also serve as executive producers on the show alongside original UK Office creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. The show is expected to debut at some point in 2025.
