After 93 years, Lego is doing their first-ever anime/manga set... and of course it's Eiichiro Oda's One Piece (thanks to Netflix!)

The collaboration is set to promote the second season of Netflix's live-action One Piece, which is due out later in 2025.

Lego is setting sail for the Grand Line as they announce a collaboration with Netflix to bring One Piece into block form. Though the music and logo used in the teaser are clearly from the live-action One Piece series, this still marks the first time that an anime has gotten an official Lego set. It seems only fitting that it would be Luffy and the Straw Hats that break down that particular barrier.

There aren’t many details about what the set will include – the teaser posted on the Lego website just includes Luffy’s signature hat and his stretchy arm reaching to pick it up. However, it does show exactly how far both One Piece and anime have come in terms of cultural penetration. As anime becomes more of a global presence, we’ll likely get more official sets from Lego going forward.

Even at this early stage, with just a brief teaser about the One Piece Lego set available, we can imagine some of the key elements will be. Obviously, the Going Merry is probably going to be at the heart of the set, but the mini-figs that are included in it pose some significant challenges for Lego. How do they plan to capture Luffy’s iconic stretching powers? Or Zoro’s three-sword-style? Or the impending adorable monstrosity that is Tony Tony Chopper? More importantly, what will the next anime Lego set we get be?

The only clear thing is that the collaboration is very clearly with Netflix’s One Piece series and Lego rather than the original anime, so don’t expect characters from beyond the Drum Island arc to make an appearance just yet.
