DC Comics D-lister Peacemaker is headed back to TV, but not before making way for the publisher's ultimate A-lister. In a Threads post from September 8, DCU head James Gunn (who is directing several Peacemaker season 2 episodes) revealed that the show was coming back in "2025 after Superman."

In case you don't have it circled in red in a comically large calendar on your wall (doesn't everyone?), James Gunn's Superman is coming to theaters in July of 2025. This guarantees that Peacemaker season 2 won't be headed to streaming platform Max until the latter half of that year, though it's far from specific about when in that timeframe the release date will fall.

But will that stop us from speculating wildly? Of course not.

Bearing in mind that what we're doing here is speculation and nothing more, let's look at Peacemaker's first season and see what we could glean about its second. According to a post from James Gunn's Instagram, the first season of Peacemaker began filming in January of 2021. The series launched in January of 2022, giving us a pretty clean-cut year for all the filming, post-production, and marketing to be done.

As confirmed by Deadline, Peacemaker season 2 began filming in April of 2024. Now, with the recent post to Gunn's Threads account, we know that season 2 will be in production for longer than its predecessor, but we can't help but wonder - just how long after Superman will Peacemaker return to air?

In our speculative opinion, not long. We wouldn't be surprised if Gunn meant something akin to 'right after Superman' for Peacemaker's season 2 debut, considering that more than 15 months that will have passed since filming began on the show. In our estimation, that puts the Peacemaker season 2 release date in August or even July of 2025, which sparks the question - would DC dare unleash its number one character on the public the same month they bring back their... well, not number one? 

That's something we're not even going to try speculating on.
