There’s an extra piece of good news hidden inside the larger piece of good news that it is the announcement of a third season renewal for Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians — Disney+ has also revealed when fans should expect the second season of the beloved show to debut on the streamer. Everything’s coming up Percy!
In a statement announcing the third season based on Rick Riordan’s fantasy novel series, Disney branded television president Ayo Davis said, “From the moment Percy Jackson and the Olympians debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages. With season two set to premiere this December, we’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season. Huge thanks to our incredible cast and creative team, our partners at 20th Television, and our visionary and talented producers who continue to bring Rick Riordan’s world to life with such depth and imagination.”
The early renewal — nine months before the second season even begins to air! — means that writers and crew on the show can roll into work on the third installment far earlier than in the break between the first and second seasons, which will debut two years after the first when it begins this December. The third season will use Riordan’s third novel in the series, The Titan’s Curse, as its source material.
The author said in his own statement, “This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time. It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”
The long-term future for Percy Jackson and the Olympians has been an open question for a while, but it’s been a relatively safe bet that the show was going to continue past its second season; after all, it ended up being the most-watched show on Disney+ in 2024, towering over both Marvel and Star Wars franchises.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians will continue in December 2025.
