Mark Hamill confirms he's in the new Regular Show revival, returning as the immortal yeti Skips

“There is only one Skips,” Mark Hamill says.

Mark Hamill has been a Jedi Knight, a Gotham clown, and a Fire Lord. With all of these iconic roles, it might surprise you to learn that one of Hamill’s favorite parts was portraying an immortal yeti.

Regular Show is an animated series focusing on the exploits of two slackers, a blue jay named Mordecai, and a raccoon named Rigby. Hamill voices Skips, an immortal yeti who skips instead of walking. Skips does this to honor his deceased girlfriend, who always skipped alongside him. Needless to say, this is one of Hamill’s odder roles.

During a spotlight panel at Fan Expo Chicago, Hamill spoke about the appeal of Regular Show. “I enjoyed it. It’s got kind of a Beavis and Butthead vibe in that it’s about these two losers who are highly critical of everyone else, Mordecai and Rigby. I didn’t think that one would go. If it were on Adult Swim and they could make pot references and stuff, that’s one thing, but this is for kids.”

“Well, 8 seasons later I had to tell [J.G. Quintel], who created it, I had to admit that I didn’t think it would go. I told him the very reason I just told you. It reminded me, maybe I should just write a book of advice, and then people just do the opposite, like George Costanza of Seinfeld.”

Hamill took the opportunity to confirm that he will be returning for the Regular Show revival, which was announced by Warner Bros. Discovery in June

Here’s an interesting bit of news. I just heard this last week. They want to do 44 more episodes of Regular Show.

“William Salyers DMed me. He said, ‘Did you hear the news? I’m just worried, are you in or not?’ As if I’ve somehow outgrown them. I wrote him back saying, ‘There is only one Skips, and he’s very much looking forward to meeting with his old pal Rigby.’ He sent me a gif of somebody dancing with joy.”

Salyers isn’t the only one dancing with joy. Getting Mark Hamill back is a great reason to celebrate. It may not be his most iconic role, but it wouldn’t be Regular Show without the original Skips.
