Los Angeles is certainly having a basketball moment. Hot off the heels of the Intuit Dome's unveiling, Netflix has announced a new basketball comedy series called Running Point. Featuring Kate Hudson in the starring role, Running Point is executive produced by Mindy Kaling and will depict Hudson's character as the new head of a fictional basketball team called the Los Angeles Waves.

Running Point is set to be released on Netflix on February 27, 2025. Its premise is simple: Kate Hudson's character, Isla Gordon, takes over the family business running the biggest basketball team in the country. Determined to succeed, Isla must prove to her brothers and the team's board that she's got what it takes to lead the team to victory. The show will consist of 10 episodes.

Hudson will be joined by Brenda Song, who plays the team's chief of staff and Isla's former college roommate. Chet Hanks, son of Tom, plays another LA Waves staffer. Isla's brothers are played by Scott MacArthur and Drew Tarver, while her fiancé is played by Max Greenfield.

This, of course, isn't Mindy Kaling's first time working with Netflix. Previously, she created and executive produced the series, Never Have I Ever, for the streamer. Hudson was also in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, one of Netflix's best movies of the past few years. Will Running Point live up to Kaling and Hudson's winning streak on Netflix? We shall see.

Running Point will be released on Netflix on February 27, 2025.
