Ron Perlman reveals that he kept falling off his motorcycle while filming Sons of Anarchy

Ron Perlman recalls the toughest part of filming Sons of Anarchy – staying on his bike

If you’ve ever seen Sons of Anarchy, then you know it’s not a good idea to cross Clay Morrow. The SAMCRO President is strong, vicious, and isn’t afraid to fight dirty. Remember the time when he used his teeth in a fight? Clay Morrow is many things... but it turns out he’s not a very good motorcyclist. That’s pretty awkward on a show like Sons of Anarchy, which involves lots of cycling.

Speaking to a crowd at GalaxyCon Raleigh, Clay Morrow actor Ron Perlman recalled his difficulty around motorcycles. “I think it’s kind of famous that I’m a shitty rider. Bikes don’t like me, I don’t like bikes, and to say that you could believe that I did like bikes, and that I did look like I rode, enough to ask if I still ride or if I rode before the show – that’s better than an Academy Award," he admitted.

“If I convinced you that I seemed comfortable on a Harley, that was pure fucking acting bro. I fell off the bike so often, that they invented a new insurance company just to protect production from the mayhem that I was getting ready to cause,” Perlman said.

Just remember, if Clay Morrow could become SAMCRO President even though his actor can’t ride a motorcycle, then there is no limit to what you can do.
