Report: The fast food chain Wendys is making an official Spongebob Squarepants' Krabby Patty burger (and tie-in Frosty)

Square burgers.... squarepants?! Wendy's and Spongebob Squarepants could be working together again.

For decades, Plankton has been working to steal the secret formula for the Krabby Patty - but now someone has beaten him to it, apparently.

Wendy's.

Several photos are circulating purporting to be that of an internal memo sent by Wendy's corporate offices to some of its locations announcing a partnership between it and Spongebob Squarepants' owners Paramount on an official Krabby Patty to be sold this fall - as well as a companion Frosty.

While no yet confirmed (and Wendy's and Paramount aren't responding to our emails on the subject), this would be an oddly-enjoyable experience - even if the burger itself isn't amazing or vegan.

In the Spongebob Squarepants cartoons, the Krabby Patty is a meatless hamburger made out of seaweed sea buns, deep sea produce, and a patty of mysterious makings. Show creator Stephen Hillenburg says what ever is in the Krabby Patty itself isn't meat, and in the cartoon it was created by Mr. Krabs and Plankton.

According to the letter purported to be from Wendy's, the Krabby Patty it makes will have meat - but come topped with "a secret Krabby Patty Sauce, capturing the magic of the iconic fictional sandwich for SpongeBob fans."

This would purportedly be sold side-by-side with a Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty, flavorited with vanilla and a Pineapple Mango puree.

This comes as Spongebob Squarepants celebrates its 25th anniversary, and would be the latest in a long-line of product partnerships with Wendys going back 20 years and subtle comparison such as Spongebob wearing Wendy's founder Dave Thomas' signature red tie, and the square burger patties matching Spongebob's square pants.

If all of this proves to be accurate, the Wendys x Spongebob Squarepants partnership is scheduled to begin October 8 and go through November 11 at all participating Wendy's locations in the United States, Canada, and Guam.

Here's how to watch all of Spongebob Squarepants in order.
