The unlikely team of Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery are teaming up to change TV sports as we know it

Imagine ESPN, Fox Sports, TNT, and more - all available in one streaming sports app.

In perhaps the biggest team-up since Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods joined the San Francisco 49ers (as if), the movie/TV powerhouses of Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox are teaming up to put all of the various sports they televise under one roof - on streaming.

As reported by Variety, this trio is looking to put the sports channels ESPN and Fox Sports, as well was the sports broadcast on their other networks such as ABC and Fox - into one all-star team of an app.

And the pre-season of this new streaming app is apparently short, as the trio are looking to launch it in the fall of 2024 - just in time for the NFL's next season.

“This new sports service exemplifies our ability as an industry to drive innovation and provide consumers with more choice, enjoyment and value," says Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.

This development comes as the cost of televised sports rights have reached altitudes unheard of even five years ago, with even simulated-sports like WWE's wrestling being poached from non-streaming TV all together (except for a few shows) in a landmark deal with Netflix.

The closest example of a deal like this would be in the original formation of Hulu in 2007, which was made with the partnership of AOL (which owned Warner Bros.), NBCUniversal, and others - with Disney joining in 2009.
