Hayden Christensen is returning to Star Wars for Ahsoka season 2 - but is it as Darth Vader or Anakin Skywalker?

Anakin Skywalker's coming back for Snips in Star Wars: Ahsoka season 2.

Hayden Christensen is the "chosen one" according to Lucasfilm CCO (and Ahsoka showrunner) Dave Filoni. In 2000 he was cast to play a younger Darth Vader (AKA Anakin Skywalker) in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. After those films he largely took a break from film-making and from Star Wars in general, but slowly came back into the fold as a voice actor then in the flesh for 2021's Ahsoka season 1.

And now, he's coming back again for Snips.

During an Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration 2025, Christensen confirmed that he would be returning for Ahsoka season 2 - which begins filming "next week," as star Rosario Dawson announced earlier in the panel.

Filoni said earlier that "no one swings a lightsaber like" Hayden Christiansen, relating a story about filming the lightsaber fight with Ahsoka in season 1.

"I remember you after the first take saying, 'Oh so you're coming in heavy, huh?'" says Christensen.

Christensen appeared as Anakin Skywalker in flashbacks and in the Worlds Between Worlds scene, but since he has taken on the Darth Vader role in the Obi-Wan Kenobi limited series I'm curious which version of his character he'll be playing in Ahsoka season 2.

Ahsoka season 2 begins filming later this month, with me hoping for a 2026 release coinciding with The Mandalorian & Grogu movie release date.
