"The dinner party from hell": Star Wars Andor dark power couple Kyle Soller & Denise Gough dish on one of their top 3 favorite scenes from the show

The mother-in-law is coming to visit Andor's Imperial power couple, and its going to get comedically crazy.

Denise Gough and Kyle Soller were two of the most entrancing parts of Star Wars: Andor season 1, as a Imperial dark power couple so evil and broken, it was like a car crash you couldn't turn away from. With season 2 imminent, the two actors have begun dishing on what they're up to - and keyed into on what sounds like something completely new to Star Wars, and completely human: when the mother-in-law comes to visit.

Coming up in Andor season two, Syrl Karn (Kyle Soller)'s mother-in-law Eedy Karn (played by Kathryn Hunter) comes to visit the couple's apartment, and it all goes wrong.

"Kathryn is not so much of a well-kept secret anymore, but in England she's a dame - she's a living legend," says Soller during a Star Wars Celebration 2025 interview. "And what she achieves with Edie is nothing short of magnificent, and then when you plop her in Cyril and Dedra's hermetically-sealed weirdo, funko apartment she just swans in and blows the place up with her weirdness."

Soller says that the scene, which he describes as "the dinner party from hell," is one of the top three things from Andor for him.

"It's this kind of weird, domestic 'meet the mother-in-law' scene, and she comes in entirely dressed in color and Dedra's like 'what is going on?'"

"She's spilling her stuff everywhere, she's eating everything. She's dripping stuff everywhere, and is just like 'deal with it,'" Soller adds.

Star Wars: Andor season 2 debuts April 22 on Disney+.
