It may feel like we’ll be waiting forever for a new Star Wars film to come out, but that doesn’t mean that Disney and Lucasfilm are done with the galaxy far, far away just yet. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is on its way to Disney+ in December 2024 and it is set to expand on a popular era in Star Wars history, but when exactly does Jude Law's new Star Wars series take place in the series timeline?
Where does Skeleton Crew take place in the Star Wars timeline?
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in what is known as the New Republic era of the Star Wars timeline. This period is between the Battle of Endor at the end of Return of the Jedi and the opening of The Force Awakens. More specifically, Skeleton Crew takes place at least five years after the original Star Wars trilogy.
This puts the new Disney+ show in the same period as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka. An October 2024 feature in Empire magazine confirmed that all four of these shows take place concurrently, meaning that the kids in Skeleton Crew are having their adventures around the same time Din Djarin and Grogu are cruising around the galaxy.
Will Skeleton Crew crossover with any other Star Wars series on Disney+?
So far, we've only had confirmation that Marti Matulis’ Vane from The Mandalorian Season 3 will be showing up in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, but we wouldn't be surprised if other figures from those shows make an appearance. This is based entirely on Disney's apparent love of crossovers between their shows (The Book of Boba Fett was just The Mandalorian season 2.5, after all).
Do we expect Din Djarin or Ahsoka to show up in Skeleton Crew? Not really, but there is always a chance. We won't know until the series starts airing on December 3, 2024.
