The best thing about Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Visions series is how it had something to offer almost every fan. No matter what style of anime you enjoy, there will be something there for you. One of the most universally celebrated episodes was 'The Duel' by Kamikaze Douga, so you can imagine our excitement when we found out that it was getting a sequel in the upcoming Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, titled The Duel: Payback.

Takanobu Mizuno is returning to his director duties for The Duel: Payback and came along to Star Wars Celebration 2025 to give some insight into what the new episode will entail. The first thing he assured fans in the packed panel was that “The Ronin is back!” which was greeted with thunderous applause. As well it should, because The Duel was certainly one of the standouts from Volume 1 of Star Wars: Visions.

Mizuno was tight-lipped about what Ronin has been up to since we last saw him. He has been continuing his quest to kill more Sith. When we see him in The Duel: Payback, he has caught up with a Jedi Grandmaster named Anee-san who appears to have some sort of history with him.

Kamikaze Douga is still working on the final episode, which will be included in Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 when it launches on Disney+ in October. However, we did see some early footage in what Lucasfilm called a “sizzler reel” for the upcoming episodes and it is exactly as stylish and unique as the first entry. What’s more, there is perhaps the most outrageous lightsaber design we’ve ever seen coming up in The Duel: Payback. If you thought the umbrella lightsaber design was wild, prepare to have your mind blown.

The Duel: Payback is coming as part of Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 on October 29, 2025 to Disney+.
