Netflix hasn't decided on a Stranger Things season 5 release date yet, say creators
The Duffer Brothers say that a decision about when we'll see the final season of Stranger Things should be made in the next couple of weeks

Stop me if you've heard this headline before: Stranger Things season 5 just got a disappointing release date update.
Disappointing though it may be, it's true. The fifth and final season of Netflix's sensational science fiction drama has had the internet speculating, wishing, and conspiracizing for two and a half years now, with every news update revealing just how little the fans know about its release date. And recently, we received what may be the most disheartening update so far: according to one of the series-famous Duffer Brothers, even the creators don't know when to expect season 5.
Let us explain.
The news comes out of an interview that Matt and Ross Duffer did with Variety, published January 30. During the conversation, Matt updated the outlet on what the pair were up to as the season enters its post-production era.
"Right now," Matt said, "we’re just cutting all the visual effects sequences for the show so they can get started on those, so that they can be running in time for a release." Naturally, the logical question that follows is 'just when might that release be?' And get ready, because the answer is that bummer we were talking about.
"A lot of it hasn’t been decided," Matt claims, "in terms of exactly the release dates and cadence [...] That’s one reason I’m not allowed to talk about it. We’re getting on a call in about a couple weeks about it. I just know it was very important for us and Netflix that we get it out this year. But even that is quite the push."
So wait, the creators of Stranger Things themselves are still "a couple weeks" from knowing when the final season will be available to stream? How much longer, then, will that information take to get to us lowly fans??
I don't know if I even want to know the answer to that question, as it doesn't seem to be the kind to bring us any comfort. But hey, there's something kinda soothing in the fact that we're all in the same boat, right? That fans, the creators, and Netflix itself doesn't know the Stranger Things season 5 release date?
Yeah, I didn't think so either.
Stranger Things season 5 is expected (sigh) to stream on Netflix in 2025.
As we all collectively wait for Stranger Things season 5, here's the keys to getting ready:

- The Stranger Things time jump between season 4 and 5 has been confirmed by Netflix - and it raises some serious questions
