Will Yoda show up in Star Wars: The Acolyte? The showrunner has already put that theory to rest

He is one of the most popular characters in Star Wars history and one of the most recognizable figures in pop culture, so it isn’t a surprise that Disney likes to wheel out Yoda to give films and shows in the Star Wars universe a boost. However, does that mean that we can expect to see the little green Jedi running around in The Acolyte? It doesn’t look likely, according to the showrunner herself.

Yoda is one of the few Star Wars characters whose lifespan is long enough that he could show up in The Acolyte now that it is out on Disney+. In fact, during the time period the show is set in, he is the Grand Master of the Jedi Order, so it makes sense that a story focusing on the workings of the Jedi in the galaxy would feature the popular but tragic character. However, the showrunner has already ruled that out.

“Can you imagine?” Leslye Headland said in a recent interview when asked if there was a chance that Yoda would show up in The Acolyte. “Can you imagine if [Disney] were like, ‘No problem. You can use Yoda. Not a big deal. Go for it.’ No, there is not. We are pulling characters from the High Republic and characters from the [Expanded Universe], but that is it.”

That is a pretty definitive denial that Yoda will be playing a part in The Acolyte, which, as much as we love the backward-talking gremlin, gives us a bit more hope for the show. Allowing new characters rather than those tied to the Skywalker Saga is exactly what the series needs. It is a big reason why we’re so excited for the show. Or... it could be a false flag to make his eventual arrival that much more impactful. We'll have to wait until the full season has aired to find out for sure.
