I'm going to be real with all of you: I start my mornings by watching an episode of a nature documentary each day. It's been a great way for me to wake up, learn some cool facts about animals, and get on with my day. I've been doing this for a couple months now, and I'm running low on episodes. Thankfully, Tom Hanks and the team from Planet Earth are here to help us all out with their new series, The Americas.

The Americas will premiere on February 23, 2025 at 7 PM on NBC and Peacock. The series will be 142 minutes of gorgeous exploration into the biodiversity of North and South America. It was filmed over a period of five years and also features footage of new species that have never been captured on film before. Each episode will be an hour long and focus on a different region of The Americas: the East Coast, Mexico, the deserts of the Western United States, the Amazon, the Arctic, the Gulf Coast, the Andes Mountains, the Caribbean, the West Coast, and Patagonia. You can take a look at the trailer for the series below.

When you think of nature documentaries, one voice comes to mind, or ear: Sir David Attenborough. Given Hanks's performance in the trailer for the series, it's clear that NBC is trying to tap into the sense of wonder that Attenborough's voice and cadence evoke. It also doesn't hurt that the show will feature music composed by Hans Zimmer.

In addition to the ten regular episodes of the documentary, NBC will air an eleventh episode that goes into the making-of process for the series. Hopefully that episode will feature footage of Hanks recording lines for the show.

The Americas will premiere on NBC and Peacock on February 23, 2025 at 7 PM.
