Amazon Prime changes The Boys season finale title, issues disclaimer in wake of attempted Trump assassination

Assassination Run, the original title of Season 4's eighth episode, has been renamed "Season 4 Finale"

In the wake of the attempted assassination attempt of former president Donald Trump, Amazon Prime has changed how they're presenting the politically charged season finale of hit superhero satire The Boys. Originally titled Assassination Run, the eighth and final episode of the fourth season now comes up on Prime screens as only "Season 4 Finale." And before the episode, Prime is running a disclaimer that both separates the episode's events to events of July 13 and disavows real-world violence. See it in full here:

In case you haven't been following The Boys this season, part of the plot revolves around the presidential campaign of Robert Singer, with whom the villainous Homelander has planned, and whose running mate is a    secretly-superpowered schemer named Victoria Neuman. Though the showrunner, Eric Kripke, has been very upfront about the show's allegories to real-world political strife, the attempted assassination several months after the season 4 finale was written and filmed.

To further emphasize this point, The Boys official Instagram issued the following statement:

"The season finale of The Boys contains scenes of fictional political violence, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

The Boys is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional.

Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind."

The season 4 finale of The Boys is streaming on Amazon Prime now.
