Being a dad is stressful. And while I can't say I have any firsthand experience with being a dad, I have decades of experience as the child of a father, so I guess that evens it out. This seems to be the conceit behind Acorn TV's upcoming miniseries, The Catch, starring Jason Watkins as the father of a daughter whose new boyfriend raises a ton of red flags.

The Catch will drop all at once on Acorn TV on January 27, 2025. Each episode is about an hour long, making it a solid afternoon binge-watch if that is your jam. The title of the series stems partly from Watkins' character, Ed Collier, being a fisherman. So while we don't know if Collier's anxieties about his daughter's boyfriend are unfounded, we can hope that he at least has some great fisherman sweaters in his closet.

The cast of The Catch is rounded out by Aneurin Barnard (Doctor Who, Dunkirk), who plays the boyfriend in question, and Poppy Gilbert (Chloe), who plays Collier's daughter. The series was brought to the screen by Michael Crompton, who has worked on the long-running show, Silent Witness. Unlike other shows on Acorn TV, there is no second season to The Catch, making the show a one-and-done deal once episode 4's credits roll.

The Catch will be released on January 27, 2025 on Acorn TV.
