The Pitt release date: Here is when Max's new medical drama that we're not supposed to say is ER-related streaming

Max's new medical drama, The Pitt, follows healthcare workers at a hospital in, you guessed it, Pittsburgh

Noah Wyle is clocking back in for yet another medical drama. The actor, who starred in ER back in the '90s and '00s, is set to headline a new medical drama on Max called The Pitt. Wyle won't be the only one from ER reporting for duty: ER showrunner John Wells is executive-producing the show, while producer R. Scott Gemmill is back as an executive producer.

The Pitt is centered on a group of emergency room healthcare workers in a hospital in Pittsburgh. The show will consist of 15 episodes and will showcase the trials and tribulations the staff undergoes on one single 15-hour shift. Wyle will be joined by Fiona Dourif, Katherine LaNasa, Gerran Howell, Isa Briones, Tracy Ifeachor, and more in the cast. The series is set to begin streaming January 2025 on Max. You can watch the trailer for the series below.

The show has been the subject of recent litigation. As Deadline reports, Crichton's widow is suing Warner Bros. Television, along with producers Wells, Wyle, and Gemmill, for a breach of contract. The similarities between ER and The Pitt, down to its producing team, the Crichton estate alleges, are what substantiate this claim. Earlier this month, Deadline reported that the studio's lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the Crichton estate's lawsuit, which you can read in full here

The Pitt will begin streaming on Max in January 2025.
