Where would anime and manga be without the dark fantasy genre? From Berserk, to Claymore, and to Attack on Titan, dark fantasy manga and anime have carved out a solid fanbase over the years. Now, the genre has a new anime hitting our eyeballs this year with an adaptation of Yura Urushibara's manga, Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood.
Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood currently has a release window of July 2025 on Crunchyroll. At this time, we don't have a specific release date, but keep up with us at Popverse. Once we know those details, we'll put them out here. There is a trailer for the series, which you can view below.
Tougen Anki tells the story of a young man named Shiki Ichinose, who happens to have Oni blood in him. His adoptive father used to hunt Oni before he chose to raise Shiki as his own. However, once Shiki's father is murdered by an assassin, the boy's monstrous side awakens.
In the meantime, Yen Press has released an English translation of the Tougen Anki manga. Currently, only the first volume of the manga has been released, but volume 2 is due out later this month. Volume 3 of the manga will be out May 27, 2025, giving you plenty of time to read Tougen Anki in its entirety before the show drops. Happy hunting!
