Even as Anthony Mackie flies into theaters as Marvel's new Captain America, Peacock is reminding you that he's also starring in their Twisted Metal show this summer, too

Peacock debuts a new season 2 trailer for video game adaptation Twisted Metal ahead of the Captain America: Brave New World release

Never one to miss a good chance for synergistic promotion, NBC Universal’s streaming platform Peacock is taking advantage of the high profile release of Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World, starring Anthony Mackie, by releasing a new trailer for this summer’s second season of its video game adaptation Twisted Metal… which also stars Anthony Mackie.

Be warned: Twisted Metal looks like it might be more explosive, more ridiculous, and just simply more fun than even the long-awaited return of the Star-Spangled Avenger when accompanied by a couple of gamma-radiated monsters.

For those who missed the 2023 first season of the show, it comes with an impressive (and somewhat familiar) pedigree; not only does Marvel’s Mackie play lead character John Doe, but the cast also includes Brooklyn 99’s Stephanie Beatriz, Will Arnett, Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Thomas Haden Church, and Anthony Carrigan, soon to appear in James Gunn’s Superman this summer. (Scream’s Neve Campbell and comedian Jason Mantzoukas also show up throughout the run.) Based on the PlayStation franchise of the same name — which is basically a series of demolition derbies of increasingly outlandish vehicles — the show was adapted for the screen by the Deadpool, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Zombieland writing duo of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick alongside showrunner Michael Jonathan Smith. In other words: you’re in good hands once you sample an episode.

Of course, maybe the best way to convince audiences to sample the show is to just show them what it’s like, and so… here’s the new trailer for the show’s second season:

Twisted Metal season 2 begins summer 2025. (The first season is entirely available on Peacock now, however.) For now, let’s just appreciate the efforts of Anthony Mackie’s agents.
