Scott M. Gimple reveals there is “something cooking up in another area of the world” for The Walking Dead
Will The Walking Dead be getting another spinoff?

The Walking Dead universe might be expanding. While the original series wrapped up in 2022, the franchise is still going strong thanks to multiple spinoffs. AMC is currently airing, The Walking Dead: Dead City and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. And that’s not even counting projects they’ve already concluded like Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond.
It turns out, there is no shortage of stories set to tell in a zombie apocalypse. In fact, Walking Dead producer Scott M. Gimple teased that another project might be in the works. During a Walking Dead spotlight panel at New York City Comic Con 2024, Gimple teased some plans he had for the franchise.
“We have something cooking up in another area of the world, something very different,” Gimple said. “Mr. [Chris] Jericho is really into Winnipeg. We have something relatively imminent, and then dreams of the future.”
The Winnipeg reference was a joke, but there is a lot to speculate around Gimple’s comment about “something cooking up in another area of the world.” Could this be a reworked version of the More Tales from the Walking Dead Universe project that industry trades reported on in 2023?
Either way, it doesn’t sound like the Walking Dead franchise is slowing down anytime soon.
